OPC Drum (Photoreceptor Drum)

Also known as photoreceptive drum, the OPC drum is the core component of the imaging system for copiers and laser printers and the primary carrier for electrophotography. It forms an electrostatic latent image via photoelectric conversion and then attracts toner to complete development. It directly determines print sharpness, resolution and service life, serving as the heart of drum units.

Structure & Materials: 

It adopts an aluminum alloy substrate coated with an organic photoconductive (OPC) layer. Premium models feature an amorphous silicon (a-Si) coating. It delivers high photosensitivity, superior abrasion resistance and stable charge retention. The surface undergoes precision polishing with uniform roughness to enable high-precision electrostatic imaging.

Performance Impact: 

The drum's photoelectric sensitivity, charge uniformity and wear resistance dominate print quality. Aging, abrasion or scratches trigger printing defects including faint output, blurry images, background fog, vertical black lines and white spots. High-durability OPC drums withstand long-term cyclic operation, drastically extending the service life of drum assemblies and cutting overall printing costs.
